Ideal Word Count

Please don’t get me started with this. On a guru to guru basis the ideal word count for each post will vary dramatically. Some will say 200, some 2000. It’s all bullshit really as there isn’t a set figure. Concentrate instead on getting your point across effectively whether it takes 100 or 1000 words.

Be Yourself

Never be yourself whilst blogging especially if your personality sucks. If needs be adopt a completely new persona (you might want to try impersonating the Queen of England for instance).

Worry about Digg

Digg is dying a slow and painful death so there isn’t really much point in writing articles solely for the purpose of getting to the front page. Focus on writing cool content that’s targeted towards your readers and the social bookmarking side of things will take care of itself.

Selling Out is Uncool

Don’t be afraid to monetize your blog at the earliest possible opportunity. The people who say that this is ’selling out’ are morons. We’re all whores from the very beginning. You might as well slight yourself about a bit, it’s more entertaining (and profitable) in the long run anyway.

You Must Clone the Gurus to Succeed

Probloggers suck. In order to succeed you must make your own mistakes and learn how to be successful on your own. For this you must have persistence and willpower.
